Frequently Asked Questions For Online Courses (FAQ)
01. What are the advantages of taking courses online?
Convenience and flexibility are the most common advantages of our online courses. Taking courses online is ideal for someone who wants to continue learning at their own pace. Online courses allow you to fit learning into your schedule when it's convenient for you.
02. How much time should I spend on one course?
The time you spend in a class can vary. No two courses completion time is exactly the same. Our online courses are open to learners for the duration of 3 months. Learners have access to the course and resources during this 3 months window.
03. How is the material available online?
Online courses are delivered using a Thinkific management system. Learners need to register and can log into Thinkific under the PARKER HR Solutions banner to select their course preference. Once a learner is on their course page, they can access presentation slides, access to zoom links for one-on-one sessions, post-course assignments, readings, documents, videos, article links, discussion boards, their instructor, and the assignment dropbox.
04. How do I interact with the instructor?
All learners attend one-on-one online zoom sessions with the instructor at the completion of the course. Through this virtual experience, learners can email instructors using the email information throughout the course page. Course site chats and emails will enhance the relationship throughout the learning, as you will always be able to communicate with instructors and the PARKER HR team.
05. Is there interaction with other online learners?
No. However, there is an interaction between learners only when taking the course as a group, giving an opportunity to have reading reflections and course discussions as a group. Through the online courses, learners can develop relationships with other learners if taking the course at the same as a group. While a learner may not progress at exactly the same pace as other learners as in a true cohort program, learners will find themselves using the same activities throughout your course.
06. Are there group projects within online courses?
No. This on-demand online course gives learners the advantage of taking courses at their convenience.
07. What is a typical schedule for an online course?
A 3 months course will typically be available for 3 months. The courses outline the post-course requirements where learners can review their learning progress as they learn. Activities are available for learners’ use, including guides and tips that can be incorporated into daily work situations after completion of the online course.
08. What are some of the challenges when taking online courses?
One of the keys to being a successful online learner is self-discipline. Because you are not required to be online at a specific time, you have to be motivated to get the work done on your own. If you have a family and/or a full-time job while you are taking an online course, it is important that you establish a schedule of when and how you will get your work done.
If you don’t understand the post-course assignment, it is important to ask questions for clarification, so you don’t fall behind. Instructors make themselves available to learners via e-mail and via zoom discussion at the completion of the course.
09. How are online courses graded? What are the instructor's expectations?
PARKER HR Solutions corporate learning and development online courses are not graded. Learners attain a certificate of application once they can prove the application of the lesson learned at the end of the course. Just like classroom courses, high-level critical thinking is required, and learners leave the course with an understanding of the subject and an ability to apply their knowledge in a real-world setting.
